Our Impact in 2025
Transforming Lives Through Improved Cookstoves
In 2025, Festus Health Foundation successfully constructed 63 improved cookstoves to families within underserved communities with the support of Gangarosa International (GIHF) and SHIFT Consulting. Many households traditionally relied on open-fire cooking methods that expose women and children to harmful smoke, increasing the risk of acute respiratory infections (ARI) and other serious health conditions.
Through this initiative, families now have access to cleaner, safer, and more energy-efficient cooking solutions that reduce indoor air pollution, improve household safety, and promote healthier living conditions. The project continues to create lasting environmental and health benefits while empowering it youth called; Youth Service and Development (YSDC) to support their own communities to adopt sustainable cooking practices.
Expanding Access to Clean Cooking Energy
With the support of Gangarosa International (GIHF) and SHIFT Consulting and the participatory of the local communities, the Foundation distributed 58 gas units with burners to households in the community of Tongor-Dzemeni in 2025. This intervention was designed to help families transition away from unsafe traditional cooking methods and embrace faster, cleaner, and more convenient ways of preparing meals.
Cooking with gas unit improves household health and safety but also saves time for families, especially women, enabling them to cook efficiently and care for their families with greater ease and dignity.
Promoting Safe Drinking Water Storage
Access to safe drinking water remains essential for healthy communities. In response to this need, Gangarosa International (GIHF) and SHIFT Consulting supported Festus Health Foundation with 200 safe water storage containers to households in the beginning of 2026 to support the hygienic storage of drinking water.
In addition to distributing the containers, the Foundation organized community training sessions to educate families on simple and effective ways to treat water at home to make it clean and safe for drinking. Community members were trained on proper water handling, storage practices, and hygiene measures to help prevent contamination and reduce the spread of waterborne diseases. Community members are right now supporting the distribution of the containers within the communities.
Through this initiative, Festus Health Foundation continues to promote healthier hygiene practices, protect children and vulnerable populations from preventable illnesses, and empower communities with knowledge and sustainable solutions for safe drinking water.
